Audio Exklusiv P4 Class A Hybrid Mono Power Amplifiers
After the successful introduction of the P1/P11 stereo amplifiers, the desire for a pure Class A concept came up. Such amplifiers are characterised by an extremely fine and pure sound pattern. The P4 is a Mono Class A hybrid poweramplifier. Each channel uses one E88CC and one 6N6 valve in the amplifier/driver section and high performance transistors with tube-like characteristics in the output. In order to reach the best possible channel balance, noise and distortion values the valves (tubes) are strictly selected. Should you experiment with other tubes please note that, due to the missing selection, the sound characteristics can be modified. In this design, the supply voltage has been reduced: In the P4 we use approx 30 V (P14 by comparison is 60 V). Less voltage means a better current delivery capacity which has been doubled in this case. The P4 is ideal for low-impedance loudspeakers and/or loudspeakers which require a little higher damping factor.
As we have already realised with the P14 even here we chose, concerning the power supply, unconventional ways. In the standard version the six pairs of output transistors are provided with a 500 W transformer and 60,000 µF filter capacity. In the S-Version (optional for extra charge) we added a 500 W transformer as well as a capacitor bank. This second transformer is connected with reverse polarity and so the electrolytics can be loaded twice as fast. All this means not only an unbelievable stable and fast power supply with force, speed and control, but even more space, airiness and resolution.
We chose a three-step hybrid concept. Valves are excellent for voltage amplification, transistors for current supply. The combination of tube and transistor makes it possible to exploit the technical advantage and audible advantage without their disadvantages. For tonal reasons we abstained from overall negative feedback as well as from negative feedback in the transistor section, which lead, in our mind, to a particularly good sound.
The power supply is built up with an RC-filter. So, in combination with a high quality line filter, most of the line noise can be eliminated and the audio circuit works under the best possible conditions.
Components have been determined separately and in cooperation with long listening tests. Non-inductive resistors with only lowest tolerances, MKP, mica, and oiled paper capacitors and high quality internal wiring are only a few examples of the final selection of piece parts.
Once again we have applied our special patented measures for resonance elimination / control. They considerably reduce artificial artifacts and clearly improve the demonstration of finest detail resolution and room information. Thanks to all measures we reach a very special sound pattern for the real connoisseur. Extremely fast, airy, three-dimensional, best possible stability and current delivery. Excellent structure, but nevertheless emotional sound which is, above all, signed by a best possible finest drawing as well as by authority. Finally THE amplifier when very high power is not required.
