After the successful introduction of the two stereo power amplifiers P1/ P11 the desire for more power came up. During development the circuit and boards had been designed in such a way to easily realise further conceptions. Furthermore modifications concerning the power supply (transformer, capacitors) can be also realised. The P14 is a Mono high power hybrid amplifier. Each channel uses one E88CC and one 6N6 valve (tube) in the amplifier/driver section and high-performance transistors with tube-like characteristics in the output. In order to reach the best possible channel separation, noise and distortion values the tubes are strictly selected. Should you experiment with other valves please note that, due to the missing selection, the sound characteristics can be modifed.

The power supply voltage was modified: In the P14 we work with approx 60 V (P11 by comparison is 49 V). Each three pairs of output transistors are provided with their own 500 W transformer and 40,000 µF filter capacity – with the consequence that in each monoblock 2 transformers with 1000 W and 80000 µF are used. This means an absolute stable and fast energy supply. The results are force, speed and control. In comparison with the P11 the current supply and stability have been improved while showing lower impedance.

We chose a three-step hybrid concept. Valves are excellent for voltage amplification, transistors for current supply. The combination of valves and transistors makes it possible to exploit the technical advantage and sound advantages without having their disadvantages. For tonal reasons we abstained from overall negative feedback as well as from negative feedback in the transistor section, which leads, in our mind, to a particularly good sound.

The power supply is built up with a RC-filter. In combination with a high quality line filter, mostly of the line noise can be eliminated – the audio circuit works under the best possible conditions. Components have been determined separately and in cooperation with long listening tests. Non-inductive resistors with only lowest tolerances, MKP, mica and oiled paper capacitors and high quality internal wiring are only a few examples of the final selection of piece parts.

Once again our special patented measures for resonance elimination have been applied. They considerably reduce artificial artifacts and clearly improve the demonstration of finest detail resolution and room information. Tonally the P14 considerably beats the majority of the amplifiers. It does not sound as the other typical amps (thick and dull) but more like a well concieved high-power Class A-amplifier: extremely fast, uncompromising, fluid, full of enjoyment of playing matched with huge power. All these measures do not only lead to an impressive stability but also to an extremely spacious, airy, excellently structured, but nevertheless emotional sound pattern, as well as authority.
